When you are thinking of the founders of the Romanian Electronic Music scene, one of the first names that comes to your mind is [a:rpia:r], consisting of the well-known trio Rhadoo, Petre lnspirescu and Raresh. The one in the middle is considered to be among the "complete artists" of the underground scene, mastering multiple instruments, such as the piano or the violin and transposing his knowledge into his sets and productions.
Radu Dumitru Bodiu a.k.a. Petre Inspirescu (Pedro) was born in Braila on the 28th of April 1979 and started to discover the world of electronic music by the age of 14, mixing breakbeat and drum & bass on cassette tapes. Driven by high hopes, he moved to Bucharest at the age of 18 in order to study Economics, like his father. He discovered shortly after that University will not fulfill his dreams and filled his nights with what he passionately cared about - the developing underground scene of Bucharest.
In the late 90's, his hobby materialized into a serious love affair: he was taking the 24 hours train to Prague in order to buy vinyl records that he could not find at all in Romania, using them each Wednesday at a small place called "Web Club", one of the first clubs in Romania where electronic music could be heard. Afterwards, he started to play once a month at Studio Martin, one of the first party places that came to life after the end of the communist regime. He met of lot of people that were sharing the same interest for the scene and around 2001, he also met Rhadoo, who invited him later on to play at an underground place where he had a residency.
He arived in Ibiza in 2002 and by 2004, he was already a known name on the island, also obtaining a residency at Circoloco @DC10. Moreover, the being associated with artists who played there, such as Rhadoo, Ricardo Villalobos, Riche Hawtin, Luciano and many others helped him grow even more as an artist.
In what regards his musical taste, he started with a deep and groovy style that later on became more experimental and afterwards became influenced by classical music, a newly-discovered love, which led to the creation of the “Pi Ensemble” project, a mix between electronic and classical music.
In 2006, with the help of Rhadoo and Raresh, [a:rpia:r] came to life, thus building up the foundation of the renowned “Romanian Sound”. Since then, Petre Inspirescu continued to express himself at parties all around the globe, continuously evolving and entering musical realms that have not been explored.
